Say goodbye to calories, numbers, points, and fat grams. There is a new program on the circuit that is turning diets upside down. What’s the buzz all about?
Everyone is talking about Dragonfly Wellness. The company, known for guiding people through a Six Month Program of total dietary and lifestyle transformation, is saying no to counting calories, fat grams, and points. Dragonfly Wellness’ Six Month Program is not a diet. It is a way of life. Created by Mary Kent Hearon, the daughter of a prominent cardiologist, Dragonfly Wellness was started to simplify the confusion of all the dietary madness on the scene today.
“There are so many diets out there that it’s hard to believe in one miracle diet,” says founder, Mary Kent Hearon. "We are fooled into thinking that the diet that works for our best friend will also work for us. People must understand the power these diets have over our minds. ‘Fad’ diets are not catered to a person’s individuality the body, the mind, or the spirit. My job is to explain to my clients that diets are like the latest fashions ….they come and go. Atkins has been the latest trend, but let me be the first to tell you, it will be out in a flash.” Joshua Rosenthal founder of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) originated the concept. The school is the only one in the world that teaches all of the different dietary theories with the application of no single one! Diets such as Macrobiotics, Atkins, Zone, and Weight Watchers are just a few of the numerous theories taught. Passionate young professionals like Mary Kent are then urged to go out and make a difference in people’s health!
The Six Month Program is conducted in a holistic method, looking at the whole person not just their specific health concern. "I listen to everything about my client," says Mary Kent. "What they do for a living is just as important as what they eat for breakfast. My goal is to get to the root of the health concern, something that a lot of people in the medical profession do not have time to address."
Mary Kent has created quite a following of people who have benefited from dietary and lifestyle changes over a six month time frame. "Americans are so interested in a quick fix. My program is not for those interested in making changes over night. Change takes time and I have plenty of time for those interested in making the commitment." Throughout the six months, clients learn the art of incorporating healthy foods into their eating routine, as opposed to eliminating, the importance of listening to their body in regards to cravings, and how to cook healthy foods. As a result, clients gain clarity, confidence, and a sense of total well being.
And, her individuality is like no other in the business. You can’t miss her in her Paul & Joe jeans, her Petit Bateau t-shirt, her white doctor’s jacket, and her trademark, a dragonfly necklace, designed by Mary Kent to remind her clients of their transformation. She is definitely the most stylist nutritionist on the block! You can find her at the Cents Ciels New Age bookstore in Paris, scouring the shelves of health food stores in New York, or eating at the hippest organic restaurant in London. In addition to her private practice, which includes clients from New York, London, Paris, and South Carolina, Mary Kent gives lectures at various centers and counsels patients at Columbia Cardiology Consultants.
