Diet Hints

Just by reducing a few of the following, you will be on the path to nutritional well-being. From simple awareness, you will be one step further along the path. One of our favorite books, Longevity Secrets written by Gary Young, tells us the six nutritional pitfalls. We feel it vital to share with you this important information.

Sugar – Nothing stresses the human body as much as refined sugar.

Dehydration – Adequate water intake is crucial, not just for keeping the body’s metabolic and digestive apparatus running smoothly. Every cell in the human body requires water to move nutrients in and waste products out.

Coffee, Colas, and Alcohol – Coffee is a beverage that actually hastens the aging process. This is because it contains relatively high quantities of cadmium, one of the most toxic heavy metals known. The caffeine in coffee and in soft drinks acts as both a stimulant and diuretic, and is related to lowered calcium and trace mineral levels in the body.

Dairy Products – Dairy products such as butter, milk, and cheese are not only high in artery-clogging saturated fats, but they also contain concentrated pesticide residues if the livestock is not range fed.

Meat – Analysis of several large studies has shown that the higher the consumption of meat, the higher the risk of cancer and heart disease.

Hydrogenated and Heated Fats – Hydrogenated fats are found in virtually every processed food on the supermarket shelves, from crackers to canned chili. These fats have been directly and indirectly linked to almost every major disease plaguing the industrialized nations of the world, from cancer to heart disease.

Obviously, each one of us may be tolerant of meat and dairy, so we must use caution when terming these as avoidances. Nonetheless, we feel it is important for our clients to be aware.
